Oticon have added two new innovations with this range – the SuddenSound Stabilizer and the Wind & Handling Stabilizer. These take the Deep Neural Network sound processing (trained to recognise 12 million sounds) to the next level.

Oticon have have achieved SuddenSound stabilizing by adding 2 new detectors for fast and precise processing of disruptive sound giving an even smoother sound experience and a 22% reduction in listening effort while still hearing the natural soundscape of your surroundings.    

Oticon`s World`s first Wind and Handling Stabiliser as the name suggests greatly reduces wind and handling noise. This will be particularly useful for any hearing aid wearer that enjoy outdoor sports such as golf etc or walking especially in windy conditions and coastal areas.

As the aids use Oticon`s proven Brain Hearing technology they differ from other leading brands. Where most hearing aid manufacturers suppress all sounds in background noise apart from what they consider as the most "important" sounds to improve the signal to noise ratio making it more likely you will hear what you need to, the Oticon Real range give the wearer clearer comprehension of all sounds around them without obvious suppression and present the sounds to the wearer in a way that gives them a better comprehension of all sounds around them while also offering improved hearing in background noise.

To make this possible Oticon recorded over 12 million sounds and "taught" the hearing aids what they were. The aids can recognise sounds and present them to the wearer in a balanced way while not overpowering speech.

I have been wearing a pair of Real 1s for the last few days as I always do when a new hearing aid is released.

My first observation was that the sound quality is amazingly natural. After a few minutes my brain had already acclimatised to the sound of the aids. Only when I removed the aids did I realise which sounds were being amplified and what I could hear with my natural hearing. 

Conversation in background noise was the best I have experienced with hearing aids. The SuddenSound stabilizer gives a smooth sound experience and I heard well in all social situations.

The weather conditions were great for testing the aids performance outside as it had been particularly windy. In the past I have found the disruption caused by wind noise extremely intrusive and made conversation extremely challenging and sometimes impossible. With the Real aids I was no more aware of wind noise with the aids in than when I removed the aids.

The level of detail offered by the aids in a natural way sets these aids apart from other manufacturers premium products. The World leading feedback control means that it is possible to give the wearer a natural open fit while being able to amplify to the full prescription level. 

The Real range are capable of streaming audio from an iPhone, iPad and some android phones. This means that clarity for phone calls is crystal clear and a huge improvement over non-streamed calls. 

The aids are remotely programmable through the new free Companion app making fine tuning appointments possible without having to leave the comfort of your home. This app also acts as a remote control for the aids.

All in all these are excellent hearing aids. The build quality is extremely high as we have come to expect with Oticon products and the aids are covered by a 5 year warranty.
