HEARING TEST
We adopt a highly personalised approach for each of our patients to give the very highest standard of care.
First a case history is undertaken. We need to find out all we can about your current and past hearing difficulties. The more we know, the more we can help.

A thorough physical and audiological assessment is then carried out to HCPC standards by a fully qualified hearing aid audiologist. An accurate assessment of your hearing health is vital to enable us to improve your hearing.

We then take time to fully explain and discuss any hearing defects and answer any questions the patient may have.

We will then be able to make recommendations matching budget, hearing loss and lifestyle.

These services are entirely free and without obligation.

AFTERCARE
Once a patient is fitted with hearing aids we always conduct a follow up consultation and fine-tuning session. This enables us to optimise the aids after the patient has tried them in different acoustic environments. This process can be repeated if necessary until the patient can hear well once again.

We give comprehensive advice to our patients about the best way to use the hearing aids to enable them to optimise their hearing, including use of individualised programmes, remote controls, streaming devices or even apps if appropriate. We are there to guide our patients every step of the way.

A hearing aid is only part of the solution. Without expert fitting and fine-tuning one may still be missing out on vital acoustic frequencies. Regular hearing checks are therefore an important part of our care package.

We carry out a yearly hearing check and service of the hearing aids to make sure that they always sound as good as when brand new. This service is completely free for as many years as you use our hearing aids. If you perceive that your hearing has changed before the year is over then we ask our patients to come in for a free check whenever necessary.

MICROWAX SUCTION
In most cases micro wax suction does not need pre-treatment with drops, however, we do recommend that you would try two days of using a product like Earol (clinically treated olive oil) which is the best preparation.

One of our audiologists can then examine your ear using a binaural microsope (either fixed or with loupes glasses), followed by the use a fine low pressure suction device they will be able to safely remove any blockage.

Additionally, using with the use of a video otoscope your audiologist is able show you evidence of the current condition of the ear before and after treatment.

HEARING LOSS
Do you think you may be suffering from a hearing loss?

For most people hearing loss happens very slowly over time. You might start to miss the odd word or think someone said one thing when they actually said something else. Perhaps you need the Television louder than those around you or have difficulty hearing in restaurants and at social occasions. These can all be symptoms of a hearing loss.

As with most elements of health, the sooner action is taken, the better the outcome.
If you feel that you may be affected by a hearing loss the best course of action is to have a free hearing test.

Please call 01903 911077 to book a free appointment now.

IMPORTANT QUESTIONS

Is the TV louder than others find comfortable?
Does it sound like people are mumbling or not pronouncing their words properly?
Are you missing what friends, family or grandchildren are saying to you?
Are you or your loved one avoiding noisy social situations or missing jokes?
At the theatre, restaurants, and social gatherings; these can be particularly difficult due to distance and background noise. This becomes very embarrassing if you have to ask people to repeat again and again.
It is almost like listening to a foreign language and it is not much fun missing out on the punch-line of a joke when everyone else is laughing. Most people smile politely and then ask someone else what was said later.
Feeling tired and stressed is common because trying to hear with a hearing loss takes a lot of concentration. Some just withdraw completely as it is too difficult. This stress is bad for your health and your loved ones if they have to repeat themselves regularly.
It could affect those who suffer from any heart or blood pressure conditions etc. It can also lead to depression and social anxiety which can reduce quality of life and cause arguments in your relationships.
